CCSG Expertise > Journalist Training

Media fundamentally affects conflict by:
  • how coverage is framed
  • what "facts," language and sources are used
  • which stories are told and which are not.
Training equips journalists with the skills and knowledge to
  • produce reliable unbiased work that mitigates, not exacerbates, tensions
  • create critical dialogue spaces in communities at risk
  • establish communication channels between divided communities
In the Support to Peace and Stability of Kosovo Program AED trains and supports inter-ethnic teams TV journalists to jointly produce TV documentaries and a TV magazine series

In the Sri Lanka Peace Support Project-Phase III AED worked with an inter-ethnic team of writers and producers, and Young Asia Television, to develop and produce a 13-part teledrama series depicting the impact of the civil war on each of Sri Lanka's three main ethnic groups.

Under the Bangladesh Human Rights Advocacy Project AED trained 48 reporters from leading newspapers and TV stations in conducting investigative journalism, particularly on BHRAP's priority issues: violence against women, trafficking, child rights, and access to justice.
