UNDERSTANDING AND RESPONSING TO EXTREMISM AND TERRORISM IN THE HORN OF AFRICA

The Understanding and Responding to the Sources of Extremism and Terrorism in the Horn of Africa task order, awarded under the Instability, Crisis, and Recovery Programs (ICRP) IQC was a US-based desk top study that seeks to analyze and develop a contextual understanding of the nature and scope of the threat of extremism in the Horn of Africa and Indian Ocean.

The results of this study, conducted in 2006, will guide decisions about USG resource deployment in the region to more strategically mitigate the immediate threats as well as diminish conditions that support violent extremism.
