Allison Poyac-Clarkin, Program Associate

Allison Poyac-Clarkin joined the CCSG in December 2005. Prior to coming to CCSG, Dr. Clarkin did ethnographic research among local North African Muslim associations in Paris , France . This two-year project funded by The German Marshall Fund of the United States was the subject of her doctoral dissertation that focused on transnational struggles for social and civil rights in Algeria and France . Dr. Clarkin also has worked as the Assistant Director of The International Center for Migration, Ethnicity, and Citizenship at the New School for Social Research in New York providing core development support to research and public policy analysis on international migration. Additionally, she had the opportunity, while working with the United States Committee for Refugees and Immigrants, to be involved with resettlement efforts for Kosovar Albanian refugees in the summer of 1999. Dr. Clarkin holds a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology from The New School for Social Research, and a M.A. in Applied Anthropology from American University . She is proficient in French.
