Mariam Alimi , Program Associate

Mariam Alimi joined CCSG in September 2005. She works on proposal development and backstops CCSG's SARI/Equity and Bosnia GAP projects and the ICRP IQC. Ms. Alimi interned during the summer of 2005 at the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime in Vienna, Austria in the Legal Advisory Section and spent a year teaching high school in High-Point, North Carolina. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Wake Forest University, with double majors in Biology and Spanish, and her Master of Arts degree in International Relations from the Maxwell School of Syracuse University where she specialized in global security and the Middle East. Her thesis "Al Qaeda: The Evolution of a Terror Network" traces the development of the organization from Bin Laden's leadership to Zarqawi's current reign in Iraq. Originally from Afghanistan, Ms. Alimi is specially interested in pursuing a career that deals with restoring order, stability, and human rights to war-torn areas of the Middle East and South Asia.
