Matthew Pietz, Program Associate

Matthew Pietz has extensive experience living and working overseas, including five years spent in international education. Shortly before coming to AED, he earned two Master’s degrees, one in Public Administration and one in International Relations, from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University. His research there focused on human rights, with an emphasis on truth commissions in Latin America. Mr. Pietz also served as a consultant for USAID’s Office of Democracy and Governance on a project analyzing reconstruction strategies in post-conflict states. He has worked with Amnesty International in Santiago, Chile, as a teacher in rural Japan, as a publisher of his own newspaper in Kathmandu, Nepal, and as a monk in Sarnath, India.
